In an exciting finale at the 2023 IBF World Bowling Championships, Kuwait was ignited with bowling passion. Hosted at the renowned Kuwait Bowling Sporting Club in Salmiya, the Men's Singles category witnessed fierce competition among top-notch players from around the globe.

A Singaporean Duel for Gold

In the riveting finals, Singaporean players, Darren Ong and Muhd Jaris Goh, both showcased their bowling prowess, with Ong clinching the gold, leaving Goh to secure the silver. It was an all-Singapore face-off, as Ong masterfully overcame top seed Jaris Goh with a 2-0 win. The first game saw Ong narrowly edge out Jaris Goh with a score of 184-179. The subsequent game was decisive for Ong as he produced a flawless performance, ending 208-164, thus securing his World Championship gold.

Semi-Finals Recap

Leading up to the thrilling final, the semi-finals were equally intense. Darren Ong showcased his determination and skill by upsetting third-seed Tobias Boerding of Germany with a scoreline of 2-1. The rounds unfolded as 208-222, 224-173, and 225-213.

On the other side, Muhd Jaris Goh proved his mettle by ousting fourth-seed Ghanim Aboujassoum of Qatar in a straight-set victory of 2-0, marked by scores of 211-204 and 248-242. These semi-final confrontations set the stage for the Singaporean finale.

Journey to the Semi-Finals

All the semi-finalists displayed exceptional prowess in the preliminary rounds. Jaris Goh topped Group 3, with four wins and 12 points in each, advancing to the semis. Meanwhile, Tobias Boerding secured the top spot in Group 2 after a dramatic three-way 9th and 10th frame tie-breaker, eclipsing competitors Muhd Rafiq Ismail of Malaysia and Austyn Ducharme of Canada. Ghanim Aboujassoum of Qatar similarly triumphed in a tie-breaker against Darren Alexander of Canada and Abdulrahman Alkheliwi of Saudi Arabia to claim his semi-final berth.

A Win for Singapore

This championship was a significant achievement for Singapore, as both gold and silver medals in the Men's Singles category were secured by their players. The newly re-elected IBF President, Sheikh Talal Mohammed Al-Sabah, honored the victors by presenting them with their well-deserved medals.
